Description

Messier 106 also known as NGC 4258 is one of the brightest and with 135000 light years diameter largest spiral galaxies in our galactic neighborhood. It lies in a distance of approx 24 million light years from Earth in the constellation of Canes Venatici. It contains an active black hole which causes lots of radiation. In its spiral arms lots of HII regions and star forming areas are visible.
