Description

The Lagoon nebula is a emission nebula and HII region in the Sagittarius constellation, estimated to be around 4,100 light years from Earth. Alongside is the Trifid nebula which is a combination of emission nebula (the left, red portion), reflection nebula (the right, blue portion), and a dark nebula (the apparent 'gaps' within the emission nebula that cause the trifurcated appearance; these are also designated Barnard 85).

Recently acquired an ultrawide monitor, decided to process an image to use as a background.

Description shamelessly stolen from Wikipedia.
