Description

This is my first attempt at imaging the iconic Eagle Nebula, made famous by the Hubble Space Telescope and more recently the James Webb. The European Space Agency has a wonderful description of current understanding of what's there in the Eagle, along with an interactive comparison of the HST and JWST images of this object. "Pillars of Creation" is an apt name for this object because it is filled with newly-formed stars. These are especially visible (as "red orbs") in the JWST image. It is amazing to me that relatively basic amateur astronomy equipment can successfully image this fascinating part of the sky with such detail and clarity.
Here is the ESO web page: https://www.esa.int/Science_Exploration/Space_Science/Webb/Webb_takes_a_stunning_star-filled_portrait_of_the_Pillars_of_Creation

Finally, the Eagle Nebula could also be called the Osprey Nebula because to my eye it looks more like an Osprey emerging from the water with a trout or bass in its talons. :-)
