Description

M51 has always been a very special galaxy to me.

It began 40 years ago when I was trying to see it with my small telescope, starting from the bottom of Ursa Major, jumping from star to star.

2 years ago, when I decided to go to astrophoto and to buy a Lacerta 200/800, I saw the gorgeous M51 of Tommy Nawratil @tommy_nawratil and it became kind of gold standard for me:
Enjoy it here : https://www.astrobin.com/301501/B/?nc=&nce=

After my last year attemps, I decided to get as much signal as I can and see what it will give.

This year, for galaxy season, I am working with APM x1,5 barlow, 1200mm at F6

I could get 120x20x20x20 x2mn in LRGB and 8x5mn in Ha this year
I had it to last year acquisition (new moon acquisition) , with Paracorr coma corrector (920mm - F4.6)
LRGB : 240x50x50x50 x60sec
Ha : 12x300sec

There are still some work to get the gorgeous acquisition I see on Astrobin but I am vey happy of the milestone I achieved here.

I decided to propose this framing with the bright 7th magnitude star on the left, above a rich galaxy cluster in the background, I decided to give this star a super power : over saturation !
There were some space available in that part of the picture, so I decided to give it to this star ;-)

Hope you will like it !
