Description

Taurus' friendly face (aka Hyades)

What a beautiful shape the bull's face has – almost like a deer, with it's nose tip (down right), the symmetrical pair of eyes above (follow the V shape).

The red giant Aldebaran (α Tau) on the left side and Ain (ε Tau) represent the begin of the two horns growing far out into space from the bull's head.

Besides some dark and bright nebulae, the open cluster (OC) NGC1647 appears in the upper left image corner.

Ages before us the Hyades asterism (as part of the constellation Taurus) was well known to man, long before the first telescope was invented or electricity was discovered. When I look up to one of these asterisms or constellations, I feel connected to the people who looked up to the night sky free from light pollution.

I am part of this tradition.

And so you are!
