Description

Here we have yet another M45 image. I have been playing with this image for a while and since we too are having less that good weather in Arizona, I thought perhaps this was a good time to wrap ths one up.

I wanted to do one with this FRA400 before I put it away for galaxy season. I like to re-do M45 images so I can have some comparisons telescope to telescope and this, to me anyway, is a really good subject to make those comparisons. You have the nebulosity, differing star brightness, differing star color and all that faint background gas and dust. And more, M45 is one of a handful of subjects that are so iconic that I don't tire of it, lol... I think the FRA has passed all of my tests and I really like the telescope quite a bit.

With the Pleiades, I find it somewhat difficult to understand exactly what the color should be in the end. In this case, I decided to trust the photometric color calibration and add just a little bit of saturation in the non-linear state. I also like to view the great many terrific images of this here on Astrobin and that helps to make a final judgement of the color. I did use a little bit (much less than the default value of 40) of the dark object enhancement script in Pixinsight which I think helped a great deal.

Anyhow, I hope you like this M45, and Clear Skies!
