Description

SH2-119 or Sharpless 119 is a complex nebula in Cygnus, close enough (2-3 degrees) to the North American Nebula (Sh2-117) that it is often overlooked and it is a very beautiful nebula to see, with large structures that look like ocean waves.
In this case it has taken me about 31 hours of exposures with 6 different filters.

Cataloged by S. Sharpless in his "HII Region Catalog"
it contains several globules of dark dust and acquires a pleasing structure to observe.

The bright star is 68 Cygni, it has an approximate magnitude of 5 and is one of the stars responsible for ionizing the surrounding gas.

Just to the left of the star 68 Cygni, you will see a small planetary nebula PK 87-3.1.Sh2-119 lies some 2200 light years away from earth.

Exposure data:
68 x 600" Ha
63 x 600" Sii
48 x 600" Oiii
50 x 120" Red
50 x 120" Green
