Description

NGC 6164-5 is a rectangular bipolar emission nebula in the constellation of Norma formed by the winds of its young central star HD 148937. HD 148937 is a very hot star with a mass of about 40 times that of our Sun. As for the nebula, some call it the "Dragon's Egg" because of it's proximity to NGC 6188 the Fighting Dragons of Ara. The external bluish nebulosity is rich in Oiii and is the result of an earlier mass ejection of HD 148937.
