Description

vdB 137 (also referenced as IC 5076) is a reflection nebula in the constellation of Cygnus, located about 2 degrees north of the North America Nebula. The interstellar dust is lit by the star HD 199478, a blue supergiant of spectral class B8 and an apparent magnitude of appr. 5.7 mag. It shows some minor variation in brightness (therefore it is also recognized as variable star V2140 Cygni) in the range of +/- 0.1 mag. The distance from Earth is about 1750 pc (5700 lightyears).
