M45 is my favorite target so it is only fitting that this should be my first attempt at a mosaic. Overall very impressed with PI and how it handled merging the panels.

This was an interesting night of learning gear and software.

The first time I have used SGP Mosaic tool. The first time using manual rotator in SGP to set my camera angle. Learned that your camera orientation has to be accurate or as after I wasted 1hr of imaging when the second panel started and I found that my camera width and height were reversed in the mosaic tool thus rendering useless images . Oh, and let's throw in a meridian flip in panel 4 for good measure! SGP is powerful software. I have been using it for 5 years and it just amazes me with what it can do automatically.

Then I had to learn how to create the mosaic in PI. Using Warren Keller's "Inside PixInsight" made this a breeze. Thank You Warren!

I used David Ault's dnaLinearFit script to match the the panels field illumination. This script is worth downloading as it worked with awesome results. Thank You David!!!
