Sometimes in an effort to highlight the cloudy structures of celestial objects we feel that the stars are a kind of distraction to contemplate in all their magnitude the delicate shapes of these clouds, especially if they are faint. However, in my opinion there is some loss when the stars disappear without more, as if by magic, of the star fields that have cost us time of integration and time of processing. In this version of the Statue of Liberty nebula I have not resisted the temptation to isolate the gas clouds and this is the result. I personally prefer this course with stars. In reality, the image thus processed looks like a watercolor, a painting, although it has its charm.

A veces en el afán de resaltar las estructuras nubosas de los objetos celestes sentimos que las estrellas son una especie de distracción para contemplar en toda su magnitud las delicadas formas de estas nubes, sobre todo si son tenues. Sin embargo, a mi entender hay cierta pérdida cuando las estrellas desaparecen sin más, como por arte de magia, de los campos estelares que nos han costado tiempo de integración y tiempo de procesado. En esta versión de la nebulosa de la Estatua de la Libertad no me he resistido a la tentación de aislar las nubes de gas y este es el resultado. Personalmente prefiero este campo con estrellas. En realidad, la imagen así procesada parece una acuarela, una pintura, aunque tiene su encanto.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.

Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection.
