Description

I became interested in this less-photographed object after seeing some fantastic images of it on Astrobin, so thought I'd give it a try. It really needs several hours of exposure to do it justice, but I had to throw out almost half my subs due to clouds and approaching thunderstorms. Currently I don't see a good window in the long term forecast for acquiring more data, so here's what I have so far. I do plan to add more time to it when the weather cooperates.

Sh2-126 is a large, faint emission nebula in the constellation Lacerta. It's just one part of a much larger star-forming region known as Lacerta OB1, and lies approximately 1200 light-years from Earth. Hydrogen gas in Sh2-126 is mostly ionized by the nearby star 10 Lacertae. At the upper-right section of Sh2-126 is LBN 437, a reflection nebula associated with the variable star V375 Lacertae.

Description: Added another 2 hours of exposure time. This is a very faint object and a lot of high clouds were passing by during the 2nd session, so a lot of processing was needed to get a decent image. More data needed!
