Description

This Astrobin Debut Object, also known as NGC 7448, is a spiral galaxy located 90 million light years away in the constellation of Pegasus at a declination of +16 degrees. This magnitude 12 galaxy spans 2 arc-minutes in our apparent view, which corresponds to a diameter of 60,000 light years.

In his Arp catalog, Dr. Arp classified this object into the category of Spiral Galaxies with Detached Segments.

Numerous star clusters and HII regions are seen throughout the disk. An especially bright blue star region is see above and left of the core.

The disk structure is fascinating, with no real arms to be seen. An almost complete mid-region ring is seen around the core. Beyond the ring, the arm segments are stubby and discontinuous.
