Description

Since buying the Askar 400, I have been looking forward to capturing the California Nebula with the wide field refractor. I was able to get to solid nights with below average to average seeing recently. I created a pseudo luminance layer with Ha data and used HDR to help bring out detail in the bright portion of the nebula.  Overall, I am happy with the result, but will likely go back and add RGB stars because of feel they would compliment the image better.

The California Nebula is a faint visually but bright Hydrogen alpha emission nebula with medium length exposures in the constellation of Perseus within our Milky Way. It is approximately 1000 light years from earth and literally in our cosmic backyard.

With the wider field, I did noticed a circular bow shock appearance in the bottom left of the image. I looked back and see it in my RASA 8 data and in other astrophotographers. I could not find any information, but would curious if any knows more about it?
