Description

The Rosette nebula captured mostly under the full moon, using IDAS' NBZ dual narrowband filter for OSC.

5h45min of data collected under the bright full moon, plus another 2h of moonless data, for a total of 7h45min.

Stacked in DSS and processed with PI.

Description: Uploaded another revision - this time using the new version fo Starnet for better star reduction. Also some adjustments in color and saturation.

Description: Another revision. I wasn't satisfied with revision C - I think it had too much saturation, and the color balance was less than ideal. I re-processed this version from the start, including the stacking method that was now performed in PI. The Rosette was deceptively difficult to process - it seems hard to get an image that it's anything more than a red blob!
I think this version is has more subtle colors. It's less stretched, but I think it's for the benfit of the presentation. Also, I could bring out more of the purple core - which is essentially Ha + OIII.

Title: HOO pallete revision!

Description: Another (after too many iterations!) take on the same data. This time, I enhanced the OIII region with channel combination at the start, and after stretching, a lot of curves to get the center part with the correct color. The process of adding the stars back was also changed, as a simple sum in PixelMath was giving me wonky stars in the center.

Title: Revision 07-08-2022

Description: A complete rework - this time, I stretched the synthetic OIII channel separately from the Ha and combined them in a simple pixelmath equation. Also, NoiseXterminator was used to control the noise.

Description: Reworked the image from scratch, using new tools from the past 2 years (BXT, NXT, SXT, NBnormalization). I must say, the results are much better than I expected!
