Description

This image field is the NGC 7635 / M52 region. NGC 7635 is known by its common name of the "Bubble Nebula" and also as LBN 548. It is encompassed by the larger Sharpless2-162 emission nebula. A portion of the Sharpless2-161 emission nebula is seen in the upper right. Two notable open star clusters are M52 (AKA NGC 7654) and [KPS2012] MWSC 3726 (from the Milky Way Star Cluster catalog). There is the Planetary Nebula PN KjPn 8 lower left of the Bubble and the dark nebula LDN 1231 upper right of the Bubble. The open cluster M52 is approximately 4,400 light years distant; [KPS2012] MWSC 3726 is approximately 8,153 light years distant. These objects and some of the brighter stars are seen in the annotated image. The Vertical FOV is 86'. Image scale of the full size image is 1.84 arcsec/pix.
