Description

Schiller is a very unusual crater of elongated shape, located near the southwest edge of the Moon, elevated region and vastly occupied by impact craters. Schiller's elongated shape, reminiscent of an ellipse, is made even more pronounced by its proximity to the moon's limb. Inside the crater, which is 3.9 km deep, on the northwest side, there are two mountains in a linear sequence, forming a large ridge that divides the ground into two halves.
