Description

M45

This is the very first data I collected from our winter home in New Mexico. It is also the first data I ever really collected since I am only a total of two years into astronomy (defined as buying my first telescope - 8" SC with a fork mount).  I only got my imaging rig put together about 12 months ago.

This image has 20 subs of 120s for each RGB filter.  While I know I need to collect more data, I was (and still am) learning how to use all my equipment effectively.  I had many nights where nothing worked or when it did work (or so I thought) other problems arose.  I also was challenged by guiding, first learning how to do it and then understanding what was going on e.g. seeing, clouds, wind, etc.   Perhaps that will always be the case but I believe it is and will continue to get better.

This image was also the first one I processed.  I used PixInsight and while I tried to follow all the proper steps, I'm sure that I forgot some or got them out of order.  I also used the NoiseXTerminator, and to me it seemed to do a nice job of cleaning up noise.  I applied it to linear data.

I welcome comments and constructive criticism -- I know not what I do not know.*

Thanks!
