Description

I knew the Tulip Nebula would be a challenging image to take. It is fairly faint, at least the surrounding gasses around it are. The center of the "Tulip" is easy to over-expose. Data for this image has been collected over the past two weeks. There were many challenges, most of which were that my focuser wasn't... well focusing. Perseverance won out and the focuser got fixed thanks to the great support from Pegasus Astro.... in the end I was able to collect 30 hours worth of data on this object. I just love the detail that came out of this image!

The Tulip Nebula is an emission nebula located in the constellation Cepheus (in Greek Mythology Cepheus is the father of Princess Andromeda interestingly enough). The emission comes from the UV radiation of the star HD 227018. To find it look closely at the tulip you'll see a small bubble looking area, that young star can be located there.
