Description

This Abell PN, also known as PK058+6.1, is located 7000 light years away in the constellation of Vulpecula at a declination of +26 degrees.  It is a magnitude 14 PN which spans 1 arc-minutes in our apparent view.  This corresponds to the typical PN diameter of 2 light years.

OIII dominates the signal in this nebula.  The faint blue progenitor star looks to be visible to me, at the center of the "U".

This nebula has an odd, unique structure which is tough to interpret.  I believe that this is a bipolar nebula with the outflow axis extending from lower left to upper right, resulting in the slight pointed shape.  The constricting torus is seen as a U-shape - I am not sure why it is not the typical symmetric doughnut shape.
