Description

This has been a difficult challenge for me.

I wanted to use this filter to get a very wide field of the Sharpless2 Objects and did get 30 in one shot. I planned to move down the Milky Way and get more, perhaps eventually linking together the images. Making big mosaics with large images like these is problematic due to field distortions.

The D800 is piggy backed to my Stellarvue/Mach 1 main system, and that does the guiding.

The lens is F1.4 but stepped down to reduce (but not eliminate) star distortion.

This was centered on Sh2 93 and 3600s images were taken and would up here:

The main problem with the D800 is getting good control files. This image is done with NO control files. Just stacked from one clear night. Despite the help from many Pixinsight experts good flats were impossible to obtain. I think this is because of asymmetrical sky-glow in the big image. I tried pseudoflats and they were not as good as just careful DBE and ABE in PI with noise reduction from Topaz.
