Description

-17°C (about 1°F)...this is my personal record so far while stargazing ! Who said astrophotography isn't an extrem sport ??? ;-) Under fair transparency, I was able to manage 1 hour of good data between clouds at our usual location a few kms away from home. Two of my best motivated companions and I spent about 4 hours under the sky after almost 6 weeks of bad weather. Despite the extremely low temperature, we were excited to use our astro gears and share both visual and photographic targets of the winter season. DSLR was "air cooled", so raw images didn't show so much noise at all ;-P

So, this is my 2nd attempt at the most iconic feature in Orion, just 3 years after my first image of M42 making my step into this amazing hobby! I'm pretty happy with this 2021 version and all the way I've made in 3 years, from field integration to post-processing skills. So, thanks everyone here for your faithful support and motivating encouragements ! :-)

Funny fact : after packing all stuff back in the boxes, the eletric tailgate of my friend's car didn't cooperate at all...I had to drive back with open door :-))) Fortunately, mine is an manual-operated tailgate ! On the way back to home, we reached a -21°C zone where no one would have to stop (see rev. C)!

Stay well and healthy,
Christophe
