Description

Its taken me awhile to really get the results I was hoping for with the Edge 8. It seems the secret, much to my surprise for a relatively "slow" scope, is frequent and accurate focusing. It could be the optical design since elements are basically f/2 before reaching the final f/10 (although I use the reducer taking it back down to F/7).

Oddly, the Edge is  much more sensitive to focusing than the F/3.6 Rich Field 6" newtonian.  The Rich Field can run a whole night, even 2 without refocusing. The Edge I notice a difference, and am auto-refocusing, every 60 minutes.

Here in this image of M103 the brighter stars are still close to that "SCT look", but the dimmer are tiny points. In that respect I will call it a success.
