Description

They are ups and downs to living in the Midlands - fortunately more ups than downs. When I’m in Scotland, I love watching the evening light catching the bonnie banks ‘n braes, bringing tiny features into sharp relief.

I’m not sure whether it is evening or morning on Day 7 of my lunar tour, but I was pleased with the detail in this image of the 'central highlands’ - the light capturing the crater edges and high peaks, casting long shadows. I try and visualise the terrain from this perspective, and even occasionally plan a route.

Taken at f10, in my recently re-collimated 8” SCT, I’m pleased with what these 32 year old mirrors and coatings are still capable of. Captured and stacked in Envisage with a 50% quality filter, and medium edge filter applied automatically after 10 subs, the LRGB stacks were manually aligned in Nebulosity, with a slight tweak of hue and saturation for emphasis.
