Description

M46 is an open cluster Puppis, Messier first observed the cluster in 1771. He added M46, M47, M48 and M49 to the list on February 19, 1771. A small planetary nebula NGC2438 is superimposed on the open cluster making this a great two for the time of one image. I waited for several years to image this one and wish I had my CCD camera when I finally did the imaging. It was one of the last objects recorded with my Canon T5i. But, I might be bringing it back for Moon images
