Description

Another experiment with the new monochrome camera (ASI1600MM): the Crescent Nebula #NGC6888 in the Cygnus constellation! The Cygnus is still visible despite the autumn approaching fast...and last Friday I managed to collect 2h15min of total light frames: 1.5h of H-a (23x240s) and 15min (10x90s) for each RGB channel. I processed the image with the classical HaRGB workflow, combining the R and H-a channel in a "super" red channel which is then combined with the G and B channel in a colour layer. Another layer of H-a only is then superimposed as luminance to give a highly contrasted and low-noise image. Still not happy with the overall colour though...I keep getting this pinkish tone which I don't like much...and the stars are off too...room for improvement :-)!

EDIT:Finally I've gotten a colour of the nebula and stars that I like. Also, I used darks! Specially the 300s H-a frames were in desperate need of darks to get rid of the amp glow. I used darks for the 90s RGB frames too and that allowed me to pull out more of the diffuse nebulosity around the Crescent Nebula.
