Description

I made a series of captures of Jupiter during the transit of the GRS. This 3 frame animation shows off the features of the planet over approximately a 2hr timeframe. The 2nd frame was captured 40 mins after the first and the 3rd 1 hr and 15mins after that.
The transit of Europa's shadow is recorded in the 3rd image. The resolution of detail was particularly good, although intermittent cloud interrupted the 3rd run and the quality suffered little from that.
The complex wake of the GRS shows a large eddy encapsulating a bright spot and the remaining eddies are decaying into beautiful streamers.
