Description

Witch Head Nebula (NGC 1909)

-> faint reflection nebula: cloud of cold dust reflecting light from the star Rigel (55,000 times brighter than the sun, at 863 AL)

-> not easy astrophoto object, but all the more fascinating, because 3,800 times (!) less luminous than the nearby Orion Nebula: it took two cold nights in Arolla, a tourist site in Switzerland at 2000m under the least light-polluted sky in all of Europe!
