Description

M56 is a globular cluster in the constellation Lyra that lies at a distance of about 33,000 light years. This image started out as a 4-panel mosaic, but I ended up trimming it down to be square. Perhaps I pumped up the color saturation a bit too far, but it sure does make globular clusters look more interesting.

Luminance frames were 180s binned 1x1, 0.47" per pixel. RGB frames were 80s binned 3x3, 1.4" per pixel.
