Description

Following on from the previous images of this region I decided to get a wider field view using my 50mm lens to get the North America Nebula, Sadr Region, and the Cygnus Loop in a single frame. Once again the remarkable red sensitivity of the full-spectrum modified FujiFilm X-A3 came into its own and delivered a much better result than I'd have expected from a cheap OSC camera.

Conditions weren't great and the 7nm Baader Ha filter was working hard to keep out light pollution, moonlight, and the approaching dawn in relatively poor seeing. Disappointingly the image shows a lot of coma and is softer than I'd hoped considering the lens was stopped down to f2.0 and in future I'll be sure to stop it down further. Towards the end of the session the subs were almost completely washed out from the brightness of the twilight sky and the stack needed a lot of work in APP to pull out the detail of the nebulosity and correct vignetting.

Stars have been de-emphasised using Starnet++ and Affinity Photo to make the nebulosity more visible which is particularly effective at bringing out the detail in the Cygnus Loop.
