Description

Back in winter of 2015 I spent a few nights at Casitas de Gila guest houses in SW New Mexico. Skies there are truly dark so I brought along the AP Mach 1 and the little TMB80 refractor. At the time I was using a QSI583 with Baader filters. This is 12x300s each RG&B and 30x300s L on the NGC2170 region containing in the dust cloud the Angel Nebula shown in this cropped field. Processing is for me a real challenge and as such I find myself returning to the data as I learn new tools. Keeping the massive bright starfield under control during stretching to show the nebula features is the hardest part for me and in this rendition I used arc-sin stretch to get part of the way there then starnet tools to tone down things.
