Description

This is my first edit of M42 after taking around 6hrs of LRGB data. After switching from Baader RGB to Astrodon RGB the microlens effect and halos I had using Baader filters almlost dissapeared.

49 x 180s Luminance (Gain 139 x Offset 21)

15 x 15s Luminance (Gain 139 x Offset 21)

32 x 180s Blue (Gain 139 x Offset 21)

30 x 15s Blue (Gain 139 x Offset 21)

32 x 180s Green (Gain 139 x Offset 21)

30 x 15s Green (Gain 139 x Offset 21)

22 x 180s Red (Gain 139 x Offset 21)

30 x 15s Red (Gain 139 x Offset 21)

As my workflow continued like this:

Stack each RGB File in DSS

In photoshop set blackpoint for each RGB file and use Gradient Xterminator.

Next step was to combine and long RGB frames and "paint" in my short eposures at the core of M42 to compensate overexposure.

Levels and Curves

Edit Lum Layer seperately, then add it to the RGB file.

Color Balance and Noise Reduction

Vibrance and Camera Raw edit

Make stars smaller

Adjust star color

sharpen

finished...

Now as this is my first edit using Astrodons and first edit in RGB please, if you got some tipps to share, don#t hesitate, as I would love to improve my editing...
