Description

Good Morning fellow APs! So I am in an exceptionally good mood today as it was one of those morning where you wake up, check your data, and everything ran according to plan for the entire night. I also tried something different as I ONLY shot ONE target... crazy I know. I had been trying to get a decent image of Merope for a long time now and my subs were always plague with moon light pollution/gradients, clouds, poor guiding, and poor focus. Every attempt to process what I had never made it far. So last night I kept my scope pointed at the Pleiades. The result was over 150 2 min subs, I filtered out 40 of them myself due to small clouds and satellites, then let DDS filter out another 10%. I was left with 101 subs which stacked nicely. So here is an initial process of the data. I intend to take a much more extensive pass at it today.

FOLLOW ME ON INSTAGRAM!!! I AM MAKING A SWITCH TO SHOWING MY WORK MORE ON IG. I have many more pics of my rigs and other things related to AP. Also, being a teacher I always try to include a short, related lesson with each image post. I find that IG has a much wider audience and is an excellent platform for outreach.

QUESTION: So I cannot for the life of me figure out what is causing that fifth offset spike on Merope. I checked inside the scope, throughout the imaging train, and there were no objects obstructing my view. Anyone know what is causing this?
