Description

This image was the first light of my RC10F7.9 when I got it new in late January 2019. On Feb. 6th, thus exactly one year ago, the night was dark, the sky was clear, the seeing..... could have been better, all bright stars were blinking, leaving a fat profile behind in the image.

However, one day later I learned about a supernova candidate in M51 which appeared on January 25th 2019. I immediately checked out my material and bingo, I had it captured!

But, it was very yellow, maybe even orange which normally wouldn't point at a supernova at all, rather some other type of transient. This thing seems to be a very big and some "kind of" dying star, puffing away its outer layers which, while cooling down would emit tons of visible light.

In the other image you see the crosshair for easy localisation.

This material was gathered when I was still new to astrophotography where flats, darks and biasses were foreign words.... therefore, the noise level in this image leaves room for improvement.... ;-)

Clear skies!
