Description

This object is a galaxy group located over 300 million light years away in the constellation of Pegasus at a declination of +26 degrees. The image spans 20 arc-minutes in our apparent view, which corresponds to an actual width of almost 2 million light years.

This group is catalogued as Holmberg 800, although a search brings up very little information on the Holmberg catalog. This group is part of the Abell 2513 galaxy cluster.

At the center is the brightest galaxy in the image, the elliptical galaxy NGC 7436. Immediately behind this galaxy is the small spiral galaxy MCG+04-54-005, whose structure is intact and which does not appear to be interacting with 7436. Just above are 3 more NGC galaxies - 7431, 7433, and 7435. Based on the extended star streams, it looks to me as if 7436 and 7435 are interacting. The absence of blue color from these galaxies suggests that star formation is not significant and that any interaction is relatively minor.

The larger galaxy on the right side of the image is UGC 12274. Many other galaxies are also seen in the background. In my opinion, based on their colors and structure, most of these galaxies are just optically aligned and not as close together as they may seem.
