Description

Along with my experiments with shooting the SMC and LMC using a dual narrowband filter, I've also tried to capture them in broadband to compare. This is my most recent attempt at the SMC. I've been trying to retain the yellow colour of 47 Tucanae primarily, but I think I overexposed it. Also, there is a blue ring artifact you can see trailing along the right edge of the SMC and around, and the general internet consensus is that this is due to the way some DSLRs amplify red and blue signal at low ISO settings (this was ISO 200). My next attempt will try at 800 or 1600 to see if it makes a difference.

Regardless, this completes my recent experiments with the two Magellanic Clouds. Orion is rising earlier and earlier in the evening here in NZ, so I hope to get some good shots of that glorious nebula soon!

I'm also very much open to any feedback and insight on these photos, so if you have any thoughts please share them!
