Hi everyone, I hope the new year has started well.

We haven't had much telescope time on the C2PU OMICRON 1 meter lately due to research in progress. Serge Brunier had just enough during a GAIA session to do a test on NGC 604 which belongs to a big object around (I don't remember its name)

Before seriously shooting a major target, we like to do some tests with the research filters as soon as we have telescope time to see the framing and detection.
There are only 3 hours with the SDSS filters (i,r and g). the seeing was not good (2,4 arcsec), but we can see the nebula well and it is encouraging if one day we wanted to do the big object with good conditions

The color was not easy to balance during the processing, especially on the Ha and blue areas. I used an old David Vernet image made with a Sony A7S in 2014 for the red and blue layers before calibration.

Hope you will like this test, until we take a closer look at the large object around next fall.

PS : the image seems noisy on a small scale, click on the full to make the noise disappear and turn it into stars

Submitted The date and time when you submitted this image for IOTD/TP consideration.	...
Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
