Description

NGC 6946, a.k.a the Fireworks Galaxy, a face-on intermediate spiral galaxy of class SAB(rs)cd ~25 million light-years away on the boundary of Cepheus and Cygnus.  Ten supernovae have been noticed in this galaxy in the 20th and 21st centuries. The peculiar bluish object seen right to the core is called the Hodge's Complex, initially thought to be a young super giant star cluster that turned out to be an interacting dwarf galaxy.

LRGB 14h 20m (4x10x300s, 12:10:10:10x600s) from SPA-2 PA-2 an OfficinaStellare 700 RC telescope, with FLI PL16803 camera and Astrodon LRGB 2GEN filters on an OfficinaStellare equatorial fork mount with absolute encoders and direct drives. Situated in Oria, Spain. Part of telescope.live telescope network. Taken on multiple dates Aug 2021 - July 2022.
