Description

Messier 106 and NGC 4217 form an interesting pairing, although it's uncertain whether NGC 4217 is actually associated with M106 or not. M106 is roughly 25 million light years distant. It's a large galaxy, approximately the size of Andromeda, with a known black hole at it's core. It has a warped disk with many young star forming regions (blue), lots of inner dust/gas, and some visible H II (pink) regions. There are several other faint fuzzies in the field.

I captured about 1/3 of the integration time in my yard last year, and the rest was captured this month at the TAAA CAC dark site in AZ. All frames were captured at f/2.2.
