Description

Inspired by the magnificient "The man and his star" (https://www.astrobin.com/302885/) and after having had good results (to my personal level of ambition of course!) on processing a starless version of the recently uploaded Pacman (https://www.astrobin.com/l41u13/) I decided to produce a similar picture enphasizing the cluster IC 1590 and the nebula (PacMan) and the features it creates, by taking away all stars but an approximation of the cluster 1590 ones.

It is so striking that all we see in that classical image is created by those hot and young blue supergiant stars (not quite, actually the wonderful dark dust lane is supposedly backlit by other star, not visible to us).

I believe that by taking away the other stars, the picture tells beautifully the "story" of:

- the UV from these young stars ionizing the gases of the nebula,

- the stellar winds eroding the "nearby" boks (version B attached),

- the stellar winds compressing the gasses and forming those wonderful pillars surrounding the cluster. Besides it is so wonderful how they all point towards in the direction of the Cluster that I could not avoid making a separate version highlighting that feature (version C).

Finally I have uploaded a clean version (version D) of the starless image (done with StarNet inP Pixinsight, which really makes this process easy and effective). Only minor "cleaning" was done after the StarNet (MMT and a little bit of cloning for some "start leftovers").

Details of the capture are those of the "starred version" (https://www.astrobin.com/l41u13/)

I hope that you like it!!

Clear skies, Guillermo
