Description

This is NGC 7380—the Wizard Nebula. It’s technically considered an open star cluster “with nebulosity.” But I consider it a really cool nebula with a star cluster. This object is about 7,000 light years from Earth. It was discovered in 1787 by Caroline Herschel—William Herschel’s sister. It’s about 100 light-years across and is an active star-forming region.

Because of a light leak in the filter drawer with the moon coming up, only 7 subs out of 48 were usable for this image. This is definitely one where we want a do-over.
