Description

thanks for the Top PIck , the day of my Birthday !

A new version for this elephant's trunk with a different color palette and a complete new processing. I hope you like it !

VERSION F as final (for the moment) : my PC screen is not really calibrated ... and the original version seems a lot too dark , don't hesitate to tell me if it is too dark or too bright for your screen ;-)

----------------

This project took me a lot of patience to get the best FWHM , specifically in Halpha, but also in SII and OIII, The tuning of my EQ8 gives me now very nice guiding , after a perriod of stabilization at the begenning of each night. It improves greatly the FWHM, and the result is now much better :-)

9 nights in june and fisrt day of july : 17, 18, 19, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 01

85 SII Subs @300s (gain 139, -20°C)
123 OIII Subs @300s (gain 139, -20°C)
131 HalphaSubs @300s (gain 139, -20°C)

Total => 339 subs @300s = 28h 15 minutes

The Elephant's Trunk Nebula is a concentration of interstellar gas and dust within the much larger ionized gas region IC 1396 located in the constellation Cepheus about 2,400 light years away from Earth. It is now thought to be a site of star formation, containing several very young (less than 100,000 yr) stars that were discovered in infrared images in 2003.
