Description

This nebula surprised me. Even though it's only 2 degrees away from the North America nebula, Sh2-119 was much more faint and the star field much thicker.

I put SII in the Red Channel (100%), Ha in the Green Channel (100%), and OIII in the Blue Channel (100%) and then tweaked the colors in both PixInsight and Photoshop. Surprisingly, the blue in the middle turned up right away with no special attention even though OIII was very weak.

All of the data was captured in September, 2019.

Optolong Ha: 148x240" (gain: 139, offset: 21)

Optolong OIII: 119x240" (gain: 75, offset: 15)

Optolong SII: 120x240" (gain: 139, offset: 21)

Integration: 25.79 hours
