Description

This object is a small planetary nebula located 5000 light years away in the constellation of Cassiopeia. The nebula is 40 arc-seconds wide in our apparent view, which corresponds to a diameter of 1 light year.

There is not much written about this object in the literature, except that it is "unremarkable". The central progenitor star is clearly visible. Confirmed by the Hubble image, there appears to be a faint outer gaseous sphere expelled by the star at the beginning of its planetary nebula stage, followed by a second stronger inside sphere. Reddish hydrogen gas is present throughout the nebula, but the expelled oxygen gas is more concentrated at the expanding leading edge of the inside sphere, particularly in the 4 slightly brighter lobes around the circumference.
