Description

The Northern regions of the constellation Cepheus are covered by an irregular blanket of dust and gas, with voids and denser regions that give the sky a mottled appearance in deep, wide-field images (as in www.astrobin.com/full/374292/0/).

VdB 152 is, strictly speaking, the name of just the small blue reflection nebula visible slightly left of the center of the image. But this reflection nebula is just the tip of a column of gas, a tendril over 20 light years long protruding from the dusty blanket of Cepheus.
