Description

Western veil nebula - with about 3 hours and 20 minutes of integration.

This is my record for integration time, using the small apo refractor. 🙂

The weather was nice and cool (~15*C on Aug 9 and again on Aug 10 2020), but the conditions were a bit weird, the wind was blowing quite hard from the west. My rig doesn't catch much air, but just enough to have moved it a little, especially on the second night. In the final version I include all data, but will go back and perhaps reject some of the shakiest light subs.

I love the interwoven effect of NGC 6960... it does look like a lenticular network, especially if you look at in full resolution. The nebula's wispy streaks certainly are unique and lend a lace-like filamentary appearance.

This image is unguided.

Thank you for looking, enjoy..

Ian

Description: I travelled back to my dark site and gathered another couple of hours of data on this target. This version contains every light frame collected. The wind was very strong and so this shook the mount a little, giving me some "egginess"... I will attempt to fix, but just wanted to see the result with 3 hours plus data! 😅
