Description

NEW DISCOVERY: Patchick-Strottner-Drechsler 3 (PaStDr 3) in Andromeda

Coordinates: 01:19:28.88 +49:01:09.38
Constellation: Andromeda
Size: 12 arcminutes

Patchick-Strottner-Drechsler 3 (PaStDr3 / PNG 127.6-13.5) is a probable planetary nebula around a particularly hot subdwarf (subgroup of white dwarfs)
in the constellation Andromeda, discovered in 2020 by the French-German-American team of Dana Patchick, Xavier Strottner, and Marcel Drechsler.
Unusual for a planetary nebula is the absence of [OIII], however this object could be a rare H-alpha-[NII] - PN, as also revealed by the spectrum already taken
by Pascal le Dû. More information about PaStDr3: PaStDr 3

Exposure data:

250 mm Lacerta Newton, f/4
SX Trius 694 CCD, Baader Ha, LRGB filter
