Description

"Eta Carinae Nebula NGC 3372"
- LRGBHOO 592mm

Today I show you a picture that I didn't take as usual from my balcony out of the city. This time I rented a foreign telescope for the first time and controlled it remotely ^^ The telescope is located in Namibia in the Hakos Mountains, under one of the most beautiful, clearest starry skies on earth!
The recordings were made a week ago, plagued by kidney stones, it took me a week to work out all the data, always with painful long breaks in between ^^ Now it's finally finished and can be shown :-)
Once the whole picture and two excerpts/crops of it at the center of Eta Carinae as well as overlying NGC 3324, the Gabriela Mistral Nebula as well as NGC 3293, sparkling gem clusters, also called Spider Spit Cluster or Small Jewel Box.

I can say one thing in advance, regarding remote telescopes - it's fun and just as exciting as taking pictures with your own telescope! In view of our unpredictable weather situation and the few clear nights we have here in Central Europe, I will definitely use this option more often - especially for objects in the universe that I will not be able to see from my location all year round :-) The metering of the telescope system cost me about 120€ in the end!

The Carina Nebula (NGC 3372), also known as the Eta Carinae Nebula, is an emission nebula in the constellation "The Ship's Keel". The nebula is one of the largest HII regions in the galaxy, located at a distance of about 6,500 to 10,000 light-years from Earth. It spans about 200-300 light years. The best-known single object in the Carina Nebula is the variable star η (Eta) Carinae, which is part of the Trumpler 16 open cluster.
Although the nebula is one of the brightest objects in the night sky - it is significantly larger and also brighter than the Orion Nebula - it was documented relatively late because of its extremely southern location. It was not until 1751-1752 that Nicolas Louis de Lacaille described it on his voyage to the Cape of Good Hope. He listed the nebula as Lacaille III.6 (text from Wikipedia)

Title: "Eta-Carinae-Nebel NGC 3372" - LRGB 592mm

Description: "Eta Carinae Nebula NGC 3372"
- LRGB 592mm

Once again the data from the Carina Nebula, which I showed this morning, but this time in pure LRGB processing, without narrowband data :-)
The colors are not quite as rich and powerful, but the much nicer coloring that can be achieved with pure RGB :-)
