Description

NGC2403 is a loose-structured spiral galaxy (about 18'x11') in the constellation Camelopardalis. This a LRGBHa image acquired under light polluted suburban skies using a ZWO ASI1600M camera at Gain 139dB (0.060 e-/DN) cooled to -15C:

L 131 x 180s

R 64 x 180s

G 75 x 180s

B 71 x 180s

Ha 47 x 480s for a total integration time of 23.3 hours.

Preprocessing in Pixinsight using WBPP and CosmeticCorrection. Preliminary noise reduction using MureDenoise, aggressive DynamicBackgroundExtraction to reduce light pollution gradients, followed by DeConvolution. RGBHa channels combined using Pixelmath and Photometric colour calibrated. Conventional stretching using HistogramTransformation after combining with Luminance channel. Using GAME mask aggressive removal of large scale background noise with MMT and small scale noise on galaxy with TGVDenoise. Star erosion following Adam Block's approach. Reduction of large scale halos using halo masks and Pixelmath, but unfortunately this can only work so far if the original subs are overexposed.
