Description

These Astrobin Debut Objects are a pair of barred spiral galaxies both located 310 light years away in the constellation of Hercules at a declination of +36 degrees.  I could find no detailed information on either of these galaxies.

Both galaxies have similarly barred inner regions, but NGC 6447 (on the left) is much more interesting because of its classic grand spiral design shape.  It 2 distinctive, graceful arms trace a beautiful path for over 360 degrees around the circumference.   NGC 6447 has a Milky Way sized diameter of 120,000 light years.

It looks like NGC 6446 may have an arm structure as well but it is very faint.

I don't see much in the way of interaction here, so the galaxies are likely not as close together as they seem to be from our apparent view.
